JerShon Cobb joined the Loyola University Maryland men’s basketball program as an assistant coach in July 2022.

Cobb, who played at Northwestern University while Hardy was an assistant coach, had served as his alma mater’s director of player development since 2018.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to join Coach Hardy and the Loyola men’s basketball program,” Cobb said when he was hired. “I’m very fortunate to work beside the man who recruited and showed me a vision out of high school, and now I can help him take this program to new heights.”

After his professional playing career, Cobb was a coach for the Atlanta Xpress, an AAU program near his hometown of Decatur, Georgia.

He returned to Northwestern’s bench as the Wildcats’ director of player development and has assisted with game planning, scouting, player development and as an academic liaison for the team.

Cobb received his bachelor of arts in African-American Studies from Northwestern in 2015 and played professionally in the NBA G League and in the Canadian Basketball League for the Canton Charge and the Halifax Hurricanes.

Cobb appeared in 94 games during his career as a guard at Northwestern, averaging 8.3 points during his tenure with the Wildcats.

He began his Big Ten career as a starter for the 2010-11 Wildcats as a freshman, averaging 7.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He then averaged 7.1 points in 21 games as a sophomore before missing the 2012-13 season with an injury.

Cobb came back to post career-highs of 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 2013-14, and he then was a team captain for the Wildcats during his senior season of 2014-15.
