Greg Manningis in his fifth year on the coaching staff after spending four years in the program as a student-athlete. In addition to recruiting, the 2008 Loyola University Maryland graduate assists with scouting and administrative duties.
A tireless recruiter, he has been instrumental in the early commitments from prospective student-athletes the last three years. He is well-known throughout the Baltimore-Washington scholastic circles.
Manning was the first player to join the program upon the hiring of Jimmy Patsos in April 2004 and he donned the Green and Grey for four years. During those four seasons, Manning was an integral part of the current revival of Loyola basketball and helped the Greyhounds to 58 wins during his career, the highest total since members of the Class of [apos]87 registered 63 wins between 1983-1987.
A native of Alpharetta, Ga., Manning appeared in 92 games during his career, earning starts during his freshman and senior years. A three-point shooter, he knocked down 32 shots from beyond the arc and tallied 177 total points. He produced two of the highlights of the season during his senior campaign - scoring 10 points in 11 minutes at National Champion Kansas and coming off the bench cold at Siena to tie the game with a three-pointer with eight seconds remaining, finishing with five points in 14 seconds in the Greyhounds[apos] overtime victory.
He was graduated with a bachelor[apos]s degree in Communications-Public Relations. He spent the summer following graduation attending camps across the country, including the Eastern Invitational in New Jersey and the camps at the University of Maryland and West Virginia University, before joining the Greyhounds[apos] staff full-time.
