Cinthia Angus

Cinthia Angus, an accomplished collegiate coach, joined the Loyola University Maryland volleyball staff in March 2020.
 
Angus comes to Loyola after spending the last four seasons as an assistant at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, where she helped the Buccaneers to each of the last two NCAA Division II Championships, including a trip to the regional semifinal in 2019.
 
Angus was a nominee for the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2019. She helped the Buccaneers improve from 10-15 in 2017 to 29-4 in 2018, the program’s best record since 2004.
 
At Barry, Angus coached five AVCA All-Americans and seven players who earned All-Sunshine State Conference honors. Megi Buvinic was named the Sunshine State Conference Newcomer of the Year and a Second-Team AVCA All-American. Audren Rose was named to the AVCA All-America Third-Team, while Kristina Filimonova and Anastasiia Samokhvlova earned honorable mention.
 
During her time in Miami Shores, the Buccaneers also won four AVCA Team Academic Awards and had a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
 
Prior to moving to South Florida, Angus was the head coach at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. There, she developed three players who earned all-conference honors, including a Libero of the Year.
 
Angus was a starting outside hitter at the University of Utah in 2008 and 2009 where she helped the Utes win the 2008 Mountain West Conference title and advance to the NCAA Sweet 16. In her two seasons, she averaged 2.2 kills, 2.2 digs and 0.6 blocks per set for the Utes.
 
The native of São Paulo, Brazil, played two seasons at Salt Lake Community College as the Bruins finished third in the NJCAA in 2007 when she earned NJCAA All-Tournament an Second-Team All-America honors.
 
She graduated from Utah with a Bachelor of Science in recreation and tourism in 2011, earning Dean’s List recognition and Mountain West Conference All-Academic recognition. She then traveled to the United Kingdom where she coached and played at Durham University in England while earning a Master’s of Science in management with an emphasis in international business.
 
Angus continued her playing career until 2018, competing on the AVP Next Tour, finishing fifth and ninth in a pair of 2018 beach tournaments.
 
She has been active in the USA Volleyball Coaching Program, serving as the associate head coach of the High Performance Girls Youth A3 team in 2019 as an assistant previously for the High Performance Girls Future Select Training Program in 2017 and 2018.
 
Angus has spent more than 10 years coaching club volleyball, as well. In 2014, Angus was the head coach of East High School in Salt Lake City, and she spent the 2011 season as a volunteer assistant at the University of Utah.
 
The former Cinthia Silva, she is married to Danny Angus.
