MEXICO CITY - Loyola University Maryland's McKenzie Coan won her third gold medal of the 2017 World Para Swimming Championships on Wednesday night, completing a sweep of the 50-, 100- and 400-meter freestyle events.
Coan dominated the field by more than a minute in the S7 400 freestyle on Wednesday, touching the wall in 5:22.02. She was more than 68 seconds in front of Sweden's Ida Andersson Wulf who earned the silver in 6:30.40.
The Loyola senior led from the get-go, splitting 37.07 in the first 50 meters, and she led at every interval thereafter.
Overall, Coan won three gold medals and a silver (50-meter butterfly) at the World Championships.
