Quick Kicks - Loyola was picked to win the Patriot League, while sophomores
Brian Saramago and
Barry Sharifi were voted the Preseason Patriot League Offensive and Midfield Player of the Year, respectively
- Seven of Loyola's eight games have been decided by one goal or less this year.
- Saturday marks Loyola's Alumni Day, with the Greyhounds' 1986 and 1987 teams being honored at halftime. Loyola Greyhounds (4-3-1, 1-0-0 Patriot League) - The Greyhounds are returning home after a three-game road trip, where they went 1-2-0, but picked up a huge 2-1 win over defending Patriot League Champion Colgate to start the League season 1-0.

Barry Sharifi leads Loyola and ranks fifth in the Patriot League with seven points this year, while three goals top the team and ranks tied for fourth in the League.

Gabriel Carlsson and sophomore
Sam Brown are tied for second for the Greyhounds with four points each, while Carlsson's four assists are tied for second among conference players.

Navy Midshipmen (2-6-1, 0-0-1 Patriot League) - The Midshipmen are unbeaten in their last two games, after tying Holy Cross, 1-1, in the Patriot League opener and earning a 3-0 victory over Saint Joseph's in their last outing.
- When playing on the road this season, the Mids are 0-3-0, falling at Manhattan, 1-0, Duquesne, 2-1, and UMBC, 2-0.
- Daniel Zaremba leads Navy with three goals and seven points, while Aubrey Jones and Phillip Gustafson have to goals apiece. TJ Powers leads the offense with three assists.
- In goal, Mac Burke, the Preseason All-Patriot League Team goalkeeper, has played all 845 minutes. With 13 goals allowed and 38 saves, he has a 1.38 goals-against average and .745 save percentage.
Versus The Midshipmen - Loyola is 1-3-2 when facing Navy, with two of the last three meetings ending in a stalemate.
- The 2011 meeting was cut short due to inclement weather in Annapolis. Following the 83rd minute, the contest was called as a 3-3 tie.
- Last year, the two squads played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Ridley Athletic Complex.
- Navy claimed a 2-1 victory in Annapolis in 2013.
- In 2016, Loyola earned a 2-1 win against Navy at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Loyola's 1986 And 1987 Teams Honored At Halftime - At halftime, Loyola will honor its 1986 and 1987 men's soccer teams that advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championships.
- The Greyhounds' 1986 team became the first Loyola team to earn a bid to the NCAA Division I Championships. Loyola went unbeaten through the regular season that year, posting a 15-0-4 record and earned an at-large spot to the 28-team tournament. The Greyhounds upset No. 1 Virginia, 1-0, in a first-round game played at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia. Loyola then returned home to Curley Field and beat George Mason, 2-0, in front of 4,025 fans, setting a local attendance record for a men's soccer game. The Greyhounds, the only unbeaten team in the country heading into the quarterfinal round, ended up losing to eventual national champion Duke, 2-1, in Durham, North Carolina.
- The 1987 squad made Loyola the only team to make a return trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals that following year. The Greyhounds started the season with a disappointing 1-3-1 record, but rebounded for a 15-game unbeaten streak and the ECAC Metro title, which secured them an automatic bid to the tournament. Loyola hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Championships at Curley Field, shutting out both William & Mary and Virginia, 1-0, before falling to North Carolina, 1-0, in a monsoon at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field.
- Loyola's shutout win over top-ranked Virginia in 1986 marked the first time the Cavaliers were held scoreless that season, while it was also just the third time in Virginia's last 15 outings that it had conceded a goal. In their previous 14 games, the Cavaliers had outscored their opponents 40-2.
- Both of those teams won the South Atlantic Region Championship, while the Greyhounds posted a remarkable 34-5-6 record (17-1-4 in 1986 and 17-4-2 in 1987) in those two years, including an outstanding 20-1-2 mark at home. Combined, the two teams outscored their opponents 102-36 and posted 21 shutouts, including eight-straight in 1987, en route to a school record 12 that year. - Loyola travels to Bucknell on Wednesday (7 p.m.) looking for its first win over the Bison, before returning home to host Army West Point in the second game of a Loyola soccer doubleheader at Ridley Athletic Complex. Kickoff with the Black Knights is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., following the Greyhounds' women's game vs. Holy Cross at noon.
