BALTIMORE – For the second meet in a row, sophomore
Emma Schouten was a triple-winner as she led the Loyola University Maryland women's swimming and diving team to a 166-129 victory over Colgate University at the Mangione Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Schouten, an All-Patriot League selection last season, finished first in 100-breaststroke, 200-breaststroke and the 500-freestyle while helping the Greyhounds improve their record to 3-0.
Schouten won the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:06.45. Then, she took first place in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:21.45. She capped off her day with a time of 5:11.36 to win the 500-free. Last season, she set school records in the 200-breast and the 500-free.
Freshman
Elizabeth Walsh won two individual events and was part of the Greyhounds' victorious 200-medley relay team. Walsh finished first in the 200-free with a time of 1:57.35. She also took first place in the 200-backstroke (2:07.21).
In the 200-medley relay, she swam the leadoff leg as the Greyhounds won the event with a time of 1:47.68. Juniors
Devin Cronin and
Emily Koegl joined Walsh and freshman Sophie Johan on the 200-medley relay team.
Taylor Ament,
Allison Wade,
Grace Huckenpoehler and
Gabrielle Clarkson were part of Loyola's "B" team in the 200-medley relay and finished third with a time of 1:53.69.
Sophomore
Megan Dickey was a double winner for the Greyhounds as she finished first in the 50-free and the 100-free. She won the 50-free with a time of 24.44 seconds and the 100-free with a time of 53.72 seconds.
In the 50-free, Dickey led a Loyola sweep of the top three spots. Johan was second at 24.87 seconds and Cronin took third place (24.92).
Freshman
Molly Davis provided the Greyhounds with a first place finish in the 200-butterfly, posting a time of 2:08.64.
Koegl won the 100-butterfly with a time of 0:58.16 while junior Annie Hayburn was third (58.65). Hayburn also finished second in the 100-backstroke (1:00.31) and took third in the 200-backstroke (2:10.41).
In the diving events, senior
Lindsey Staszewski finished first in the one-meter dive with 246.00 points and was runner-up in the three-meter dive with 252.59 points. Lizzie Berta finished third in the one-meter dive (187.35) and
Allison Echeverria (180.97) took third in the three-meter dive.
Junior
Elizabeth Romano was Loyola's top finisher in the 1000-free as she took second place (11:02.57). She also finished fourth in the 500-free with a time of 5:24.63.
Senior
Aly Pacitti was runner-up behind Walsh in the 200-free (1:58.45). Junior
Emily O'Halloran turned in a strong showing in the 1000-free, taking fourth place (11:10.43).
Both the Loyola men's and women's teams will return to action next Saturday, October 20 when they host Lafayette at 1:00 p.m.
