Women's Basketball Inks Five To National Letters Of Intent

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland women's basketball head coach Joe Logan has announced the signings of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to join the Greyhounds' program as the Class of 2023.

Joining the program will be Emma Glezen (Wantagh, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran), Emily McAteer (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley), Brianna Rozzi (Highland, N.Y./Highland), Ava Therien (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Mackenzie Wagner (Collier Township, Pa./Chartiers Valley).

"We are extremely excited to welcome the Class of 2023 to our women's basketball family," Logan said. "Each of our incoming first-year student-athletes are exemplary on the court, in the classroom and in the community."

Emma Glezen is a 6-1 forward from Wantagh, New York. A two-time NY State Class AA Tournament semifinalist at Long Island Lutheran, Glezen also helped the Cruaders rank 16th by ESPN and ninth by Max Preps in the national high school rankings. While at Loomis Chaffee in Windsor, Connecticut, Glezen helped the Pelicans to the New England Class A quarterfinals. Both of Glezen's parents played collegiate basketball, with her mother playing at the University of Wisconsin and her father playing at Colgate.

Emily McAteer, a 6-0 forward from Thornton, Pennsylvania, was named the Central League MVP after leading Garnet Valley High School to two Central League Championships. A three-time All-Delco honoree, McAteer also helped the Jaguars to the semifinals of the District 6A Tournament and was named the Maggie Lucas Classic MVP and a Philly Classic All-Star. McAteer's mother played basketball and swam in college, at Millersville.

Brianna Rozzi, a 5-7 point guard from Highland High School in Highland, New York, was the Section 9 Class B Player of the Year last year, after scoring her 1,000th career point as a junior. She's a four-time Section 9 All-Star and earned All-NY State Second Team honors after leading Highland to the Section 9 and MHAL Championships in 2018. She also helped the Huskies to the Section 9 Class B Championship in 2014, as a seventh grader, and again in 2017 as a sophomore, and was a two-time selection to the Poughkeepsie Journal and Daily Freeman All-Star teams. All four of her sisters played basketball at Nyack College.

Ava Therien will join older sister Isabella on the Greyhounds' roster. A 5-10 guard from Marlton, New Jersey, Therien was named the South Jersey and Burlington County Times Player of the Year last year, while she also picked up all-state accolades. A two-time all-conference and All-South Jersey First Team honoree, Therien was named to the SJIBT All-Tournament Team after leading Cherokee High School to back-to-back SJIBT Championships.

Mackenzie Wagner is a three-year team captain from Chartiers Valley High School in Collier Township, Pennsylvania. A 5-10 guard, Wagner was a two-time WPIAL all-conference selection who led the Colts to two-straight PIAA State Tournaments and the school's first WPIAL Championship during the 2016-17 season. In addition to being selected to The Almanac's All-Star First team twice, she was also included in the PghTop50 by the Dabbelt Report and rated No. 20 in the Super 64 Rankings by PA Futures Stars Report in 2018.
