CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland senior Foster Huggins was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth-straight week and sixth time this season on Monday.
Earlier in the day, Huggins was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year.
His weekly award is the eighth of his career, a new Patriot League record. The six weekly awards in a season and four in a row are also conference records.
On Friday night, Huggins had four caused turnovers and six ground ball in the Greyhounds' 12-8 win over U.S. Military that locked up the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Championships. Two of his caused turnovers came in the game's final 10 minutes as Loyola closed out the victory.
Huggins leads NCAA Division I in caused turnovers per game (3.38) this season. His 44 total are second-most in school single-season history (P.T. RIcch, 51, 2009).
