BALTIMORE – Sung Lee, Jimmy Hayburn and Max Verheyen each won a pair of individual races, leading Loyola University Maryland men's swimming and diving to a 162-126 victory over Boston College in Friday night's home opener at Mangione Pool.

Emma Schouten added two race wins for the women, who fell 190-110 to the visiting Eagles. Loyola won 12 events overall on the evening.

Lee and Hayburn were each part of three race wins for the men. They joined Conor Rutigliano and Jay Venit for a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:32.99) to begin the meet. Lee then swept the butterfly events, winning the 100 fly in 49.06 and the 200 fly in 1:51.16. The Greyhounds had the top two spots in both fly races, with Zachary Metzler finishing as the runner-up in the 100 fly (51.22) while Jared Copeland took second in the 200 fly (1:54.44).

Hayburn swept the sprint freestyle events for a second-straight dual, besting the field in the 50 free (21.04) and leading a 1-2-3 finish for Loyola in the 100 free with a mark of 47.03. Brendon Kolar (47.31) and Colin Anderson (47.71) followed in the 100 free.

Reid Hussey and Nick Pacitti chipped in two individual runner-up performances for the men. Hussey was second in the 200 free (1:44.14) and 200 individual medley (1:55.87) and Pacitti had the number two spot in the 1000 free (9:46.90) and 500 free (4:44.83).

Hussey was also part of a second-place showing for a 400 free relay squad which also included Kolar, Hayburn and Anderson to conclude the meet (3:08.72). Other second-place finishes were recorded by Venit in the 100 breast (58.20) and Mark Boran in the 200 back (1:54.03). In the diving events, Jack Still took second in the 1-meter (239.25 points) and 3-meter (227.92 points).

Schouten earned victories for the Greyhound women in the 1000 free (10:28.36) and 200 breaststroke (2:19.06), topping the field by over five seconds in the 1000 free.

Devin Cronin was runner-up to Schouten in the 200 breast with a time of 2:20.57, and she touched the line first in the 100 breast with a mark of 1:03.47. Cronin additionally teamed up with Elizabeth Walsh, Anne Hayburn and Megan Dickey for a first-place effort in the 200 medley relay (1:45.05).

Walsh had the other individual victory for the women, taking first in the 200 IM (2:07.92), and she was the runner-up in the 100 backstroke.

Emily Koegl had a pair of runner-up showings in the 100 fly (56.88) and 200 fly (2:06.26), and Dickey took second in the 100 free (53.16).

The women concluded the evening with a second-place showing from Faith Tyranski, Claire Bowser, Alden Coyne and Dickey in the 400 free relay (3:32.68).

Loyola is right back in action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Lafayette for a Patriot League dual at 1 p.m.
