Women’s Soccer Secures 0-0 Draw at Defending Patriot League Champs Boston U

BOSTON – Paige Sim made four saves in goal, highlighting a strong defensive effort from the entire backline in a 0-0 draw for Loyola University Maryland women's soccer at defending Patriot League champions Boston University on Saturday.

The Greyhounds (5-5-2, 2-0-2 Patriot League) remain unbeaten in the conference, and they snap a five-game losing streak to the Terriers (5-6-2, 2-1-1), who have won four of the last six Patriot League titles.

Little separated the two sides statistically, as BU ended the contest with slim advantages in shots (12-9) and corner kicks (6-4). Shots were even at 5-5 from the second half through the two overtime periods.

Sim recorded her second shutout of 2019, both of which have come against Patriot League opponents. She is now 4-0-2 this season with a 0.59 goals-against average and a .840 save percentage across 614 minutes of game action.

Morgan Messner made five saves in goal for the home side. She had the lone stop in overtime, turning aside an attempt from Maddie Hart in the 103rd minute.

Sarah Bayer, Kaleigh Gallagher and Ariel Tillman had two shots apiece for Loyola, which earned its first result against BU since a 1-0 victory at Ridley Athletic Complex on Oct. 18, 2014.

Julia Gray, Claire Beath and Beth Eversman each played all 110 minutes defensively to help record the clean sheet, while Mary Theresa Corcoran was on the pitch for all but two minutes of the contest.

The Greyhounds have a full week off before returning to the road next Saturday, traveling to Army West Point for a Patriot League matchup starting at 7 p.m.
