Karcz Moves Into Fifth All-Time In Rebounds Despite Loss At Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. – Loyola University Maryland senior Stephanie Karcz moved into fifth in career rebounds for the Greyhounds on Sunday afternoon, but Northwestern University dealt Loyola a 67-46 loss at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Karcz finished the day with nine rebounds, pushing her career total to 816, passing Maria Beam (814, 1986-90) and Peggy Kettles (813, 1989-94) to claim fifth in school history; Karcz also ascended to 21st in Patriot League history in rebounds. She added seven points, four steals and three assists.

Delaney Connolly knocked down three 3-pointers and had a team-best 15 points for Loyola (0-2 overall). Alexis Gray and Bri Rozzi both scored seven for the Greyhounds. In addition to her 15 points, Connolly had seven rebounds in the defeat.

Lindsey Pulliam led all scorers with 25 points for the Wildcats, who finished as runner-up in last year's WNIT tournament.

Loyola held the Wildcats (1-0) without a point for nearly five minutes to start the game as they missed their first 11 shots. Northwestern then took a 12-5 lead, but Loyola got back within a pair as Connolly knocked down a three and Ashley Hunter scored in the paint off a Karcz feed.

Abi Scheid, however, hit a three after Hunter's bucket, and the Wildcats took a five-point advantage into the second quarter.

Emma Glezen cut the Greyhounds' deficit to five, 23-18, but Northwestern scored the half's last seven points and maintained a lead of 10 or more for the remainder of the game.

In addition to Pulliam's 25, Abbie Wolf scored 14 and Scheid had 10 for the Wildcats. Sydney Wood led the home side with eight rebounds.

Loyola remains on the road for its next game, a Wednesday, November 13, contest at Fairleigh Dickinson that will start at 7 p.m.
