Davey Mason achieved third team status. Loyola's three first-team honorees were tied for the most in the region.
Saramago (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) leaves Loyola as a four-time All-Region performer, landing on the first team for a third year in a row to conclude his collegiate career. He totaled eight goals and nine assists for the Greyhounds, including an 18-point tally across the team's final 10 games (5 G, 8 A). Saramago led the Patriot League in points (25), and he topped the conference and ranked tied for 10th nationally in assists. The first in Patriot League history to be named first team all-conference all four years, Saramago is 14th all-time at Loyola in points (91), tied for 14th in goals (34) and tied for ninth in assists (23).
Sharifi (Jericho, N.Y./Jericho) is named All-Region for a third time, and he repeats as a first team selection. The three-time Patriot League Midfielder of the Year tallied six goals and three assists in 2019, with half of his goals turning out to be game-winners. One of 13 Patriot League players to be named all-conference all four years, and the first to receive three major postseason awards, Sharifi leaves Loyola with 57 career points (19 G, 19 A) across 71 collegiate appearances. He was selected as Patriot League Midfielder of the Week eight times in his Greyhound career.
Vosvick (Phoenix, Md./Montverde Academy) is selected by the coaches as the region's top goalkeeper for a third-consecutive season. He concluded the year with three-straight clean sheets, and will enter 2020 with a career-long shutout streak of 303 minutes. Vosvick finished this fall with an 8-7-2 record, a 1.17 goals-against average and a .643 save percentage. The Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017 and 2018, he has 19 career shutouts and has allowed one goal or fewer in 21 of his 23 collegiate starts at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Fawole (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) is recognized regionally for the first time after receiving his third-straight All-Patriot League honor in November. A first team all-conference selection this fall, he totaled eight goals and two assists, matching Saramago for the team lead in goals. Fawole caught fire towards the end of the season, with 16 of his 18 points coming during an eight-game stretch from Oct. 5 – Nov. 2. Included during that run was a last-minute equalizer at No. 2 Wake Forest featured on ESPN's Top 10 Plays, as Loyola secured a 1-1 draw with a Demon Deacon squad which will play for a spot in the national championship game on Thursday. Fawole leaves Loyola with 50 career points (20 G, 10 A) in 68 appearances.
Mason (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) also earns regional accolades for the first time. A two-time second team All-Patriot League selection on the backline, and a three-time conference Defensive Player of the Week, Mason was a factor on both sides of the pitch in 2019. He totaled one goal and six assists, ranking third in the conference in the latter category, and aided a defensive unit which allowed one goal or fewer in the final eight games of the season. Also an Academic All-Patriot League honoree, Mason was one of two Greyhounds to start every game in 2019.
Loyola has now received 14 All-Region selections in the past three years under head coach
Steve Nichols. The Greyhounds, who went 10-7-2 (7-2 Patriot League) in 2019, are the first men's soccer team in conference history to finish atop the regular season standings in three-consecutive seasons. They have an overall record of 33-17-4 (21-4-1) since the start of the 2017 campaign.
All-America selections will be announced at the Division I championship banquet on Thursday night. Saramago and Sharifi were both third team All-America honorees in 2018, as they became the first Loyola players recognized nationally since 2008.
