Dickey Takes Second In 50 Free, Sets One Of Four School Records In Thursday's Competition

Megan Dickey set a school record in the 50 freestyle.
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Megan Dickey shattered her own school record as she finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.02), one of four records set Thursday by the Loyola University Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving team at the Patriot League Championships.
 
After two days of competition at the m, the Loyola women's team stands sixth with 91 points. Navy leads the competition with 334 points while Boston University is second (181 points). Host Bucknell is third (174), just ahead of Lehigh (164), Army West Point (158) and Loyola.
 
In the men's competition, Loyola is also sixth with 109 points. Navy stands first (365) while Army West Point is second (272). Bucknell is third (159), just head of Lehigh (138), Boston (137) and Loyola.
 
Both the men's and women's 400 medley relay teams set school records, and Emma Schouten picked up a record in the women's 500 freestyle.
 
In the 50 freestyle, Dickey broke the school record while finishing second to Ann Foley of Lehigh (22.94).
 
Later in the meet, Dickey helped the Greyhounds' 400 medley relay team set another school record (3:43.61). The Loyola 400 medley relay team finished fourth as Elizabeth Walsh, Devin Cronin, Anne Hayburn teamed up with Dickey to break the record set earlier this season.
 
In the 500 freestyle, Schouten, a sophomore placed ninth with a time of 4:54.46, breaking the mark she set in November 2018.
 
Emily Koegl was the Greyhounds' top performer in the 200 individual medley as she finished 12th (2:04.47); Walsh finished 15th in the event (2:05.55).
 
In the one-meter diving, senior Lindsey Staszewski took 17th place with 188.90 points, just ahead of teammate Allison Echeverria (186.80).
 
In the men's competition, the Greyhounds' 400 medley relay team broke a 10-year old record by finishing fourth with a time of 3:17.36. Freshman Jonathan Brooks teamed up with senior John Callaghan, freshman Sung Lee and freshman Jimmy Hayburn to break the record; the previous mark of 3:17.85 was set in 2009.
 
Lee also finished 11th in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:51.89.
 
Hayburn also scored in the 50 freestyle as he took eighth place with a time of 20.54. Sophomore Patrick Clisham finished 12th with a time of 20.52.
 
The Patriot League Championships resumes on Friday at 10 a.m.
