BALTIMORE- Loyola University Maryland women's basketball senior night ended in a 58-47 loss against Colgate on Saturday.
The Greyhounds honored their six seniors Abby Omdahl, Bri Betz-White, Ashley Hunter, Alex Barazotti, Courtney Vannoy, and manager Paige Rohde before the game began in Reitz Arena.
Loyola's senior players led the team in the first quarter, scoring all of their 10 points. Both Barazotti and Betz-White grabbed themselves a 3-pointer, but Colgate was ahead by four at the end of the first quarter, 14-10.
The Greyhounds fought back with a 9-0 run in the beginning of the second quarter. Molly Taylor added three trays to the board, helping to put Loyola in the lead by seven points at halftime, 32-25.
Colgate caught up in the third quarter with a 16-7 run overall. Loyola kept its lead, with only Delaney Connolly and Omdahl scoring in the quarter, until the last few minutes of the game. The Raiders came up with two consecutive 3-point shots to give them the advantage going into the last quarter, 43-39.
The Raiders started the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run, to pull ahead 55-42. Both teams were struggling to hit the board during the final minutes of the game, but there was not enough time for the Greyhounds to cut their deficit, ending on two free throws from Betz-White.
In their next game, the Greyhounds are set to host Lehigh on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
