BALTIMORE - Lehigh used the second quarter to pull away from the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team, en route to a 65-46 win over the Greyhounds in their final regular-season game at Reitz Arena Wednesday night.
Junior
Hannah Niles led Loyola in scoring, pouring in a game-high 16 points, while sophomore
Delaney Connolly finished with nine points and 11 rebounds. Junior
Alexis Gray also chipped in nine points.
Camryn Buhr led Lehigh with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The two teams traded points in the first quarter, but Lehigh outscored Loyola 24-5 in the second quarter to go into the half up, 31-12.
The Greyhounds used the break to regroup and the two teams were neck-in-neck in the third. Loyola eventually stretched an 8-0 run from the end of the third into the fourth to pull within 14, 48-34, with 8:24 to play. That is the closest the Greyhounds would get though, as the Mountain Hawks worked their lead to as many as 27 and cruised to the victory.
Through the second half alone, the two teams finished tied, 34-34.
The Greyhounds will hit the road for their final two regular season games, starting off with Navy on Saturday at 7 p.m.
