'GOODYEAR, Ariz. -
Loyola University Maryland sophomore Evan Brown won his first collegiate tournament Monday afternoon, shooting a 1-over 73 to take medalist honors at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Springs Golf Course.

Brown used a pair of birdies on the fourth and fifth holes to move to 2-under, but a bogey on seven put him at 1-under when he made the turn. He made up for a double bogey on 11 with a birdie on 15, before a bogey on 17 pushed him back to 1-over. With a par on 18, he held onto his lead and finished one stroke ahead of Alabama Birmingham's William Walker, III and Seton Hall's Gen Nagai, who finished tied for second at 7-under 209. Brown led from start to finish and finished with an 8-under 208 (67-68-73).

The Greyhounds also finished under par as a team, combining to finish fourth with a 2-under 862. UAB won the team title with an 18-under 846. Elon took second at 5-under 859, while Connecticut moved up two spots and into third, at 3-under 861.
