CLEVELAND –
Devin Cronin led Loyola University Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving with the Greyhounds' top individual finish on Friday during the second of three days at the CSCAA National invitational Championships.
Cronin touched the wall in 1:03.05 to finish 12
th in the 100-yard breaststroke for Loyola.
After two days, Loyola's women are 21
st with 64 points, and the men are 16
th with 73.
Loyola's men kicked off Friday night's session with the 200-yard medley relay, and
Jonathan Brooks, Jay Venit,
Sung Lee and
Jimmy Hayburn were 14
th in 1:30.82. The women's relay of
Faith Tyranski,
Devin Cronin,
Emily Koegl and
Megan Dickey turned in a 20
th-place performance in 1:44.18.
Ricahrd Kogut was the Greyhounds' top performer in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing 38
th in 51.41. On the women's side, Koegl led Loyola with a 14
th-place finish in 54.77.
Jay Venit had the team's top finish, 34
th, in the men's 100-yard breaststroke (57.30)
Brooks had a 25
th-place finish to top all Greyhounds in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming 50.93 in the process.
Elizabeth Walsh was the women's top finisher in that event, taking 45
th in 57.67.
The men's 800-yard freestyle relay – Kogut,
John Sakovich,
Josh Walker and
Alejandro Basalo – closed out the night with a 16
th-place finish in 7:09.87. Loyola's women's 800 relay –
Sophie Jahan,
Megan Dickey, Cronin and
Abby Andrews – were 23
rd in 8:06.38.
The competition concludes Saturday at Cleveland State University.
