WASHINGTON, D.C. - Loyola University Maryland senior
Lindsey Ehrhardt has been added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List through the second round of additions, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation Thursday.
A defender from Westbury, New York, Ehrhardt is having a standout season for the Greyhounds. With 29 caused turnovers this year, she leads the Patriot League and ranks 13th nationally with 2.23 per game. She's also second on the team in ground balls, grabbing 28 so far this season.
A four-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, Ehrhardt has been honored for not only disrupting opponents' offensive flow, but for also holding players like Georgetown's Francesca Whitehurst, a Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree, scoreless this season. She's also part of a defensive unit that leads the Patriot League and ranks sixth nationally in save percentage (.517) and 19th in scoring defense, as the Greyhounds allow just 9.25 goals per game.
Ehrhardt joins classmates
Hannah Powers and
Taylor VanThof, in addition to sophomore
Livy Rosenzweig on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. With the addition, Loyola becomes one of six schools nationally to have four-or-more players named to the watch list.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
On April 25, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees. Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 9 and invited to the 19th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on May 30.
The Greyhounds have four regular-season contests remaining and will head to Lafayette on Saturday for a noon match-up. Loyola will then return home for a pair of contests next week, hosting Bucknell on Wednesday and Colgate on Saturday, April 20, before heading to Holy Cross for the regular-season finale on Friday, April 26.
