WEST POINT, N.Y. – The U.S. Military Academy swept the Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team Friday evening, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Patriot League Championships.
The Black Knights took the doubles point as Myles Conlin and Nikita Larichev beat
Skyler Gates and
Matt Fitzmaurice, 6-1, at No. 1, and Diego Huttepain and Alejandro Quiros closed out
Brian Hoffarth and
Kyle Gower, 6-3, in the third flight. Loyola's
C.J. Cash and
Benny Glezer trailed David Mitchell and David Gorshein, 5-3, in the second flight when the doubles point was decided.
Conlin then beat Hoffarth, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, and Anant Mudra beat Cash, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6. Mitchell ended the match with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of
Benny Glezer, at No. 3.
In unfinished matches, Huttepain led Gates, 6-3, 5-2, at No. 2, and Larichev was on top of Gower, 6-0, 2-3, at No. 4. Gorshein also led Fitzmaurice, 6-3, 2-2, at No. 5.
