BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland won the opening doubles point but lost all six singles matches and fell to Chestnut Hill College, 6-1, on Sunday at the McClure Tennis Center.
The Greyhounds opened the match with a sweep of all three doubles contests to claim the opening point. At No. 1 doubles,
Louis Moldenhauer and
Petter Hagen earned a 6-2 victory over Noah Cutting and Alessio Lefevre.
Blake Edwards and
Harry Zeiders followed with a 6-2 win against Evan Brown and Augustin Daubannay at No. 2, while
Cyrus Shivkumar and
Dylan Koziol completed the sweep with a 6-2 decision over Filippo Relecom and Siddharth Malik at No. 3.
Chestnut Hill responded by winning all six singles matches to secure the team victory. Cutting defeated Edwards, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, and Lefevre earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over
Alejandro Rotundo at No. 2. At No. 3, Relecom rallied past
Ian Perl, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.
The remaining matches were tightly contested. Daubannay edged
Trevor Girandola at No. 4 singles, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 7-5, while Brown outlasted
Dylan Coonerty in a match tiebreak at No. 5, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-6. Malik closed the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Shivkumar at No. 6 singles.
