Morgan State Sweeps Tennis Teams on Wednesday

BALTIMORE — Loyola University Maryland dropped both its men's and women's tennis matches to Morgan State on Wednesday at the McClure Tennis Center, as the Bears earned a 6–1 win on the men's side and a 5–2 victory in the women's matchup.

Men's Match: Morgan State 6, Loyola 1

Morgan State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Majdi Ben Abdelwahed and Yessine Kerouat defeated Ryan Gill and Nick Lawliss, 6–4, while Abdulraheem Isa and Ilya Maltsev edged Harry Zeiders and Blake Edwards, 7–5. Loyola earned its lone doubles win at No. 2, where Petter Hagen and Louis Moldenhauer beat Roman Filma and Rhajzon Rankins, 6–1.
In singles play, Maltsev topped Hagen at No. 1, 6–3, 6–3, and Moldenhauer delivered Loyola's only singles victory with a 7–6, 2–6, 11–9 win over Filma at No. 2. Morgan State swept the remaining courts: Mohamed Ridha Ghettas outlasted Gill, 7–6, 4–6, 10–8, at No. 3; Kerouat beat Edwards, 6–2, 6–2, at No. 4; Isa defeated Lawliss, 6–2, 6–3, at No. 5; and Abdelwahed rallied past Alejandro Rotundo, 4–6, 6–3, 11–9, at No. 6.

Women's Match: Morgan State 5, Loyola 2

Loyola opened women's doubles with a win at No. 1, as Christine Richiez and Emma Roeck beat Roua Limem and Amira Bargaoui, 6–4. Morgan State answered with victories at No. 2 and No. 3: Julia Jeffrey and Michaela Stephens defeated Emi Shivkumar and Elena Hartley, 6–1, and Marta Serra Carles and Damla Arslan topped Victoria Epps and Mia Matriccino, 6–2.
In singles, Stephens earned a straight‑set win over Richiez at No. 1, 6–1, 6–2, before Matriccino pulled Loyola even with a 6–3, 2–6, 10–8 victory over Jeffrey at No. 2. Morgan State regained control with Bargaoui's 6–4, 6–4 win over Epps at No. 3 and Arslan's 6–1, 6–1 result against Langhus at No. 5. Roeck added Loyola's second point with a 2–6, 7–6, 10–8 comeback over Serra at No. 4, while Limem closed out the match for Morgan State at No. 6, defeating Tankimovich, 7–5, 6–4.
