BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland golf team will travel to the Hamilton, New York, this weekend to compete in the 2019 Patriot League Golf Championships.
The two-day conference tournament will be hosted by Colgate University at the Seven Oaks Golf Course. Two rounds will be played on Saturday with the final round taking placing on Sunday. The winner of the event will earn the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championships.
Loyola, winners of the 2014, 2015 and 2017 Patriot League Championships, is looking for its seventh conference title under two-time Patriot League Coach of the Year coach
Chris Baloga, and its 10th in the last 12 seasons, as the Greyhounds won six-straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships (three-straight under Baloga) before joining the Patriot League for the 2013-14 season. Matt Oshrine is Loyola's lone Patriot League individual champion, as he earned medalist honors at the 2015 tournament.
Sophomore
Evan Brown, a five-time Patriot League Golfer of the Week selection this spring, leads the Greyhounds with a 72.27 stroke average this year. He's played in all 10 tournaments and has posted 16 par-or-better rounds, including nine in the 60s, and six top-15 finishes. This spring alone, he recorded his first win - claiming medalist honors at the Loyola Invitational - and has posted a 70.33 stroke average to go with 11 rounds at par-or-better.

Erick Alonso, junior
Preston Ball, sophomores
Brandon Berry and
Nick Mejia, and freshman Matthew Malits at the tournament. This will be Alonso's third appearance at the Patriot League Championships, while it will be the first for Ball, Berry, Malits and Mejia.
Alonso is second on the team this season with a 72.67 stroke average over eight tournaments and 24 rounds played, while Berry has a 73.37 stroke average through 10 tournaments. Ball is fourth on the team with a 73.56 stroke average through nine tournaments, while Mejia has played eight tournaments and has a 74.52 stroke average. With four tournaments played, Malits has a 77.75 stroke average.
