BALTIMORE – Towson University's defense put up 10 total blocks and had 53 digs in three sets, holding Loyola University Maryland to a .041 hitting percentage on Friday night, going on to a 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 win in Reitz Arena.
The Tigers (8-2 overall) led throughout the first set before Loyola took its first lead of the match at 14-13 in the second one of
Abby Hamilton's match-high 10 kills. Towson, however, came back for four-straight points to capture the lead for the rest of the set.
Loyola (6-6) was ahead by a pair, 9-7, after back-to-back kills by Hamilton and
Mackenzie Fedota in the third set, but Towson rallied to win that set, too.
Hamilton had 10 kills, while
Ann Ernst added nine and Fedota posted five.
Ashley Dwyer pushed out 31 assists, a match-high, and
Katie Forsythe led all players with 14 digs for the Greyhounds.
Cecylia Guye had a team-best four blocks.
