From L to R: Devin Cronin, Max Verheyen, Emma Schouten, Jimmy Hayburn
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The All-Patriot League teams for swimming and diving were released by the conference office on Thursday afternoon, with six Loyola University Maryland swimmers among those recognized.

Senior Devin Cronin, sophomore Jimmy Hayburn, junior Emma Schouten and freshman Max Verheyen were all first team honorees, while senior Emily Koegl and sophomore Sung Lee both achieved second team status. Loyola's six selections are its most since joining the conference prior to the 2013-14 season, surpassing last year's record of four.

Cronin (Marshfield, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) became Loyola's first Patriot League female swim champion last Friday, when she topped the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a school-record and NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:01.79. Cronin also reached the 'A' final in the 200 breast, ultimately placing eighth in that event, and she contributed to new school records in both the 200 and 400 medley relay races.

Hayburn (Bowie, Md./St. Mary's) became the program's second Patriot League champion on the men's side, as he took first in the 50 freestyle on Thursday in a Loyola record time of 19.99. He scored in all of his three individual events, taking fourth in the 100 free and 14th in the 100 butterfly. His prelim time of 44.42 in the 100 free took down a program record which had stood since 2011, and he was also on new school records in the 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free and 400 free relays.

Schouten (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) is named All-Patriot League for a third-consecutive season, and she repeats as a first team honoree. She scored in all three individual events this winter, reaching the podium in two races. Schouten's top showing was a runner-up performance in the 200 breast (2:16.23), and she joined Cronin on the podium with a bronze-medal effort in the 100 breast (1:02.45). She added a 13th place finish in the 500 free after completing the 'B' final in 4:58.31.

Verheyen (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) made an immediate impact at his first conference meet, as he posted three top-five individual performances and contributed to five school records. His top finish was a runner-up effort in the 200 individual medley on Thursday, as he set a new Loyola record with his NCAA 'B' cut mark of 1:45.95.

The 2020 Men's Rookie of the Meet then broke a team record which had stood since 2012 the following evening, taking third place in the 400 IM with a 'B' cut time of 3:47.91. He concluded the meet with a fifth-place showing in the 200 breast, and was part of additional records in the 400 medley, 400 free and 800 free relays.

Koegl (Chester, Va./Matoaca) repeats as a second team honoree after posting three top-five individual performances. She earned a bronze medal in the 100 fly (53.94) on Friday and took fifth in the 200 fly (2:00.27) the following night, breaking her own school record in both races. Koegl was also fifth in the 200 IM, and she swam on Loyola's record-breaking relays in the 200 and 400 medley races. Koegl will graduate as the program record holder in six events (50 fly, 100 fly, 200 fly, 50 back, 100 IM, 200 IM).

Lee (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani School) also lands on the second team for a second-straight year after taking second in the 100 fly (48.08) and fourth in the 200 fly (1:48.81), breaking his own team record in both events. Lee was also on the 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free and 800 free relays which broke school records.

After three swimmers combined for five All-Patriot League selections in Loyola's first five years in the conference, seven different Greyhounds have earned 10 selections in the past two seasons.

The Loyola men ultimately placed third in this year's team standings, their highest finish since joining the conference, and head coach Brian Loeffler was chosen as the Men's Coach of the Year at the meet's conclusion on Saturday.
