Day 2 Finals Results
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Three additional Loyola University Maryland swimmers qualified for individual finals on Day 2 of the ECAC Championships, and all three improved their position in the evening session.
Matt Voight led the way for the Greyhounds, reaching the 'A' final in the 400-yard individual medley as the No. 8 qualifier with a preliminary time of 4:07.46. He lowered that mark down to 4:05.90 at night to ultimately place seventh in the event.
Anne Hayburn and
Brian Hess also reached 'B' finals in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke, respectively. Hayburn, the No. 15 qualifier, rose up to 13th place in the final after touching the wall in 57.47. Hess was 13th in the prelims, and he would move up to No. 11 after completing the 'B' final in 56.30.
Both men's relays added top eight showings, as the 200 medley group of
Josh Walker, Hess,
Richard Kogut and
Jared Copeland placed seventh (1:33.86) while
Bennett Loniewski,
John Nguyen,
Tommy Noone and
Alejandro Basalo concluded the evening with a sixth-place effort in the 800 free relay (6:56.58).
Jack Still was second out of three divers in yesterday's 1-meter competition, and he took second again on Saturday with a 3-meter score of 233.70 points.
Emily O'Halloran,
Maggie Manchester,
Michelle Lebed and
Sarah Abril teamed up for a 10th place finish in the women's 800 free relay (8:00.93). Manchester was 19th individually in the 100 backstroke (59.20) while O'Halloran (20th, 4:50.80) and
Caroline Arpin (18th, 4:46.36) cracked the top 20 in the 400 IM.
Other top 25 individual finishers included Kogut (19th, 53.45) and
John Sakovich (24th, 54.22) in the 100 back, Loniewski (22nd, 1:42.78) in the 200 freestyle and Kogut (23rd, 50.47) in the 100 fly.
The final day of the ECAC Championships begins with preliminary swims at 9 a.m. on Sunday, and wraps up with finals beginning at 4 p.m.
