LEWISBURG, Pa. –
Stephanie Karcz recorded her 28th career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, but lockdown defense in the first half contributed to a 66-42 victory for Bucknell over Loyola University Maryland on Saturday afternoon.
The Bison (16-6, 9-2 Patriot League) raced out to a 17-4 lead after the opening quarter and ultimately took a 30-12 advantage into the intermission. Bucknell shot 46.6 percent from the field and avenged a 60-50 defeat when the teams met at Reitz Arena on Jan. 25.
The Division I leader in steals per game, Karcz was limited to just one theft in the contest. That one steal, though, was her 123rd of the season and matched her own single-season record which was established last winter.
Making her first collegiate start,
Emily McAteer matched a season-high with 10 rebounds in the defeat.
Ashley Hunter and
Bri Rozzi added seven points offensively, while
Molly Taylor sank a pair of 3-pointers in the second half.
Ellie Mack led three Bucknell players in double figures with 18 points and eight rebounds. Ally Johnson supplied 17 points (5-9 3FG) and Taylor O'Brien managed 11 for the home side.
Loyola looks to get back on track Wednesday evening, hosting American in a Patriot League matchup beginning at 6 p.m.
