ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Loyola University Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving finished competition at the ECAC Championships on Sunday with the men finishing in ninth place while the women were 16th overall.
Alejandro Basalo was the top men's finisher on Sunday, capturing 10
th in the 1,650 freestyle in 16:14.88, three spots in front of
Tommy Noone who scored with a time of 16:26.17.
Elizabeth Fetherston had the best finish for the women's side, touching the wall in 18:54.39 for 16
th.
Matt Voight finished 11
th in the 200 backstroke, clocking a time of 1:53.81. On the women's side,
Anne Hayburn was 25
th in the event in 2:09.83.
Two Greyhounds scored in the men's 200 butterfly as
Jared Copeland took 13
th (1:53.40) and
Bennett Loniewski was a spot back in 1:53.53.
MaryKatherine Clark was the fastest woman in the 200 butterfly for Loyola, taking 23
rd in 2:11.44
The men's 400 freestyle relay of
Brian Hess,
Josh Walker, Loniewski and
John Nguyen took eighth in 3:07.94, the same finish as the women's team – Hayburn,
Sarah Abril,
Jen DeGroat and
Hailey Goodyear – had in 3:39.12.
Josh Walker and
Brett Legambi had top-25 finishes in the men's 200 breaststroke where Walker was 20
th in 2:09.05 and Legambi finished 23
rd in 2:12.11.
Abril and Hess led the women and men in the 100 freestyle, taking 32
nd (54.61) and 36
th (47.38), respectively.
