Anne Hayburn Named Recipient of MDCAAA 2020 Post-Graduate Scholarship

COLUMBIA, Md. – Recent Loyola University Maryland graduate Anne Hayburn was named one of nine winners of the 2020 Post-Graduate Scholarship from the Maryland and District of Columbia Collegiate Association of Athletic Administrators for her excellence in the classroom and with the Greyhounds swimming and diving program.
 
Hayburn was the winner of the NCAA Division I winter category graduating from Loyola with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. She was recently one of 42 winter sport student-athletes from across the three divisions to be awarded a $10,000 NCAA postgraduate scholarship, and she will continue her education at Loyola in 2020-21 working towards a master's degree in accounting. 
 
Last month, Hayburn also became the 19th student-athlete in Loyola history, dating back to 1979, to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
 
Hayburn was a three-time individual and 11-time relay scorer at the Patriot League championships, earning a bronze medal on Loyola's 200 medley relay in 2018. She was also Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory committee, a student government representative for athletics, a member of the Greyhound Leadership Academy and actively involved in several community service endeavors around Baltimore.

A two-time Academic All-Patriot League selection, Hayburn served as a team captain for the swimming and diving team during her senior year. She scored on both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays at the Patriot League Championship meet back in February and had 25 individual top-five finishes throughout the 2019-20 regular season.
 
Hayburn was an active leader in the Junior H2ounds initiative, which teaches water safety skills and swimming techniques to underprivileged children in Baltimore. She was responsible for organization, scheduling and facilitation of the program and its partnership with Loyola's Center for Community Service and Justice. Hayburn was a Student Leadership Corps Mentor, a peer tutor, a Campus Ministry Lector/Eucharistic Minister and an active member of the Student-Athlete Pen Pal program and Club PALs.

Within her major, Hayburn received Loyola's Junior Accounting Achievement and Class of 2020 Business Achievement awards, and she received Business Leader awards from both T. Rowe Price and Brown Advisory.
