BANDON, Ore. – Loyola University Maryland senior-to-be Evan Brown will start play at the 120^th U.S. Amateur Championship on Monday at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.
 
Brown will tee off at 1:47 p.m. (PDT)/4:47 p.m. (EDT) as part of the 264-player field that is competing for the title as the nation's top amateur golfer.
 
This summer has been a busy one for the Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, native after his junior campaign was cut short due to the pandemic. He opened his summer competition slate at the Delaware Amateur, finishing second in a playoff.

He then went on to compete in three of the toughest amateur tournaments this side of the U.S. Amateur.
 
Brown placed 42^nd at the North and South Amateur Championship at Pinehurst's No. 2 and 4 courses, before playing at the Sunehanna Amateur in Eastern Pennsylvania.
 
Two weeks ago, Brown made the cut at another prestigious tournament, finishing 39^th overall at the Western Amateur at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indiana.
 
A two-time PING All-Northeast Region honoree, Brown received an invitation based on his standing on the World Amateur Golf Rankings. During the shortened 2019-20 season, Brown set the school's single-season scoring record by both score (70.95) and average versus par (-0.47).
 
He carded 12 out of 19 rounds at or below par, and in tournament play, he had a head-to-head winning percentage of 89.2 percent against individual competitors.
 
The 2020 Loyola Male Junior Athlete of the year, Brown averaged 3.975 strokes on par fours and 4.615 on par fives during the season while tying the school record for eagles in a season with five in just 19 rounds.
 
He wrapped up the shortened season with two second-place finishes in his last two tournaments. Brown shot 66-69-70 at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate in March after shooting 10-under (68-72-66) to take second at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona.
 
Brown, who will be the first current Loyola golfer to compete in a U.S. Amateur since Preston Ball '20 playedin the 2018 event at Pebble Beach, opened the fall 2019 schedule with a tie for fifth at the VCU Invitational, shooting 69-66-73; he followed that with a tie for ninth at the Old Town Collegiate, carding three sub-par rounds (68-69-68) to finish 5-under in a field that included nine teams ranked in Golfweek's top-100, six of which were in the top 50, five in the top 20 and three in the top 10.
