BROOKLINE, Mass. –
Kelan Swales scored his team leading fourth goal of the season in the 18th minute, while
Jake Mayer and
Justin Ingram added insurance strikes in the second half to lift Loyola University Maryland to a 3-0 victory over Boston University on Saturday.
The Greyhounds (4-3-2, 2-1-0 PL) posted their fourth straight win over the Terriers (1-7-1, 1-3-0 PL) and improved to 3-1 in their last four games overall. Mayer,
Sean Graham and
Jake Sweeney all picked up their first collegiate points in the victory while
Chase Vosvick made one save to record a second consecutive clean sheet in goal.
Graham and Ingram assisted on Swales' game-winner, with Swales able to tap a shot past goalkeeper Francesco Montali following a short cross by Ingram from the left side. Swales now has nine points (4 G, 1 A) in Loyola's last four contests.
Sweeney then found Mayer for a 15 yard strike with just over 20 minutes remaining in the contest, and Ingram scored off a loose ball in the 88th minute to round out the scoring for the visitors.
Ingram finished with his third three-point game of the season, and he has eight points (2 G, 4 A) in the last four games for the Greyhounds.
Loyola ended the afternoon with a 13-6 lead in shots and an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Vosvick's lone save came off an attempt by Gianluca Arlotti in the 84th minute.
The Greyhounds are back on the road Tuesday night, traveling to NJIT for a non-conference matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
