Men’s Soccer Secures Patriot League Tournament Spot with 3-0 Win at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Kelan Swales (2 G, 1 A) recorded his second five-point game of the season, leading the Loyola University Maryland offense in a convincing 3-0 victory at Colgate on Saturday.

Justin Ingram added a pair of assists, while Albert Kang scored his second collegiate goal for the Greyhounds (7-6-2, 5-2 PL), who improve to 4-1 in their last five conference games and ensure a sixth-straight appearance in the Patriot League tournament. Loyola is currently second in the conference standings with two games remaining in the regular season.

The visitors led from start-to-finish in the contest, as Swales opened the scoring 3:51 into the first half. A back pass by a Colgate defender eluded goalkeeper Nick Gerlach, and Swales raced around Gerlach for an easy tap-in near the goal line.

The Greyhounds had a 7-1 advantage in shots at halftime, and they quickly doubled their advantage coming out of the break. Ingram sent a perfect long ball from the defensive end to Swales, who chipped a shot from the top of the box over Gerlach and into the net in the 48th minute.

Ingram and Swales both assisted on Kang's insurance strike in the 62nd minute. Ingram led in Swales on the left side, who passed on a hat trick opportunity to find Kang towards the center. Kang then spun around his defender and sent a low shot into the left corner for his first goal this season.

Loyola's scoring duo of Ingram (6 G, 9 A) and Swales (7 G, 3 A) have now factored in 17 of the Greyhounds' 23 goals on the year, while Kang became Loyola's eighth different goal scorer this fall.

Chase Vosvick made two saves, both in the second half, to pick up his sixth individual shutout of the season. Vosvick has allowed only four goals in 585 minutes of game action against conference opponents.

The Raiders (0-16-0, 0-7-0 PL) remain the only team without a result in Division I this season.

Loyola has a week off before returning to Ridley Athletic Complex next weekend, when the Greyhounds host Army West Point on Senior Day at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
