EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. – Loyola University Maryland golf is sixth through the first day of the Hamptons Intercollegiate after paly was halted midway through the second round due to darkness at Maidstone Club.
First-round play was delayed Monday morning due to heavy rain on Long Island earlier in the day. The teams will resume their second round Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. before finishing the tournament with the third round.
Brandon Berry is even through the first nine holes of his second round and tied for seventh individually after shooting 2-over 74 in the opening round.
As a team, the Greyhounds finished the first 18 holes in seventh place, shooting 17-over 305, a stroke back of California in sixth. Georgia Tech and Northwestern tied for the 18-hole lead at 3-over 291, while Virginia was third at 295, Liberty was fourth (297) and Duke fifth (302).
The course played to an average of 77.72 strokes during the first round.
Matt Malits is also even during the second round with two birdies and a pair of bogeys through 10 holes. He is tied for 12
th after shooting 3-over 75 during the first round.
Mike Crowley is tied for 51
st at 11-over through 29 holes and is 4-over during his second round.
Carlo Pizzano and
Connor McGarrity are tied for 60
th overall at 13-over. McGarrity has played 10 holes during the second round and is 1-under, while Pizzano is 8-over through 11.
Jackson Roman made his collegiate debut at the tournament and is tied for 32
nd as an individual. He shot 5-over 77 in the first round and is 2-over through 10 during the second.
Brett Inserra is also playing as an individual and is tied for 55
th. He was 9-over in the first round and 3-over through 12 in the second.
