Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Goal from K. Gallagher Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Kaleigh Gallagher scored the game's only goal 10:43 into the first half, and Paige Sim made three saves while recording her second-straight clean sheet during a 1-0 victory for Loyola University Maryland at Holy Cross on Saturday.

The Greyhounds (6-5-2, 3-1-1 PL) earn their second road win of the season and move up to third place in the Patriot League standings with four games remaining in the regular season. The Crusaders (1-11-1, 0-4-1 PL) drop their fourth-consecutive conference game.

Chloe Kuminkoski started the goal sequence with a pass to Gallagher on the left side. Gallagher then sent a ball towards the box which snuck past goalkeeper Olivia Dubin into the left-hand corner to put the visitors ahead. Gallagher's goal was her second season, while Kuminkoski recorded her first collegiate assist on the play.

Loyola kept the game in the midfield for most of the contest afterwards. Sim was required to make one save in the first half, and she added two more stops after the intermission to secure the win.

The top chance for the Crusaders to tie the score was a curling effort from Katie Quinn in the 85th minute which was tipped over the bar by Sim. That would be the last shot for either side in the contest.

The Greyhounds ended the afternoon with a 13-8 edge in shots, while Holy Cross earned six of the game's seven corner kicks.

Loyola is back at Ridley Athletic Complex for its next two games, beginning with a big 7 p.m. matchup against Bucknell (7-6-1, 4-1-0 PL) on Wednesday.
