Women’s Basketball Drops Midweek Contest at Georgetown

WASHINGTON – Milan Bolden-Morris scored a game-high 21 points, while Kelsey Ransom added 15 points and five assists to help Georgetown top Loyola University Maryland by a 66-55 final on Wednesday.

Bri Rozzi totaled a career-high 15 points for the Greyhounds (2-4), while Taleah Dixon and Charia Roberts added 12 points each and Lex Therien grabbed 12 rebounds. The Hoyas (3-2) shot 57.5 percent from the field overall and hit 8 of 9 field goal attempts in the fourth quarter to close out the victory.

Both teams struggled on the offensive end in the opening 20 minutes, with Georgetown ultimately taking a 25-16 advantage into the intermission. Dixon, though, got Loyola's offense going in the third, scoring nine of the visitor's first 11 points in the frame. The last of those nine points came on a 3-point play which pulled the Greyhounds within 31-27 with 6:08 left in the quarter.

The Hoyas upped the lead back to seven points at 39-32 heading into the fourth, and they led by as many as 15 points early in the final quarter. A Rozzi 3-pointer cut the deficit back down to 56-49 with 2:23 remaining in regulation, but the Greyhounds could get no closer the rest of the way.

Rozzi (3-7 3FG) scored 10 of her 15 points in the fourth, as she surpassed her previous career-best scoring effort of 13 which was set on two previous occasions. Dixon (4-8 FG, 2-4 3FG) contributed 10+ points for a fifth time in six contests, while Therien managed 10+ rebounds for a third time in the last four games.

Roberts' 12 points also matched a career high. She hit 8 of 10 free throw attempts and added a pair of offensive rebounds. Laura Salmerón dished out a team-high four assists for the Greyhounds.
