BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off a dominant dual victory over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, Loyola University Maryland's swimming and diving programs took home all four Patriot League weekly awards, which were announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Reid Hussey and
Lily Mead were named men's and women's Swimmers of the Week, while
Jack Still and
Anna Donato received Diver of the Week accolades. Loyola's men and women combined to win 31 of 32 contested events over the weekend.
Hussey accounted for three of those victories on the men's side, as he touched the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.01), the 100 freestyle (46.86) and the 200 individual medley (1:54.57). He is up to four event wins on the year, having previously placed first in the 500 free during Loyola's season-opening dual vs. Towson. Hussey scored in all three individual events at last year's Patriot League Championships, highlighted by a ninth-place showing in the 200 fly, and he was also a part of school-record performances in the 200 and 800 free relays.
Mead has made an immediate impact in her debut season at Loyola, as she has now won five of her first six individual races for the Greyhounds. She contributed to four victories on Saturday, taking first individually in the 50 free (23.90), 100 free (52.39) and 200 IM (2:07.90), and swimming the breaststroke leg of Loyola's first-place 200 medley relay squad (1:49.07). A Timonium native, Mead was named to USA Swimming's 18 & Under World Top 100 list in the 200 IM back in 2019.
Still swept the diving events on Saturday, setting new season-best scores in both the 1-meter (251.10 points) and 3-meter (243.45) competitions. His 1-meter score matched his effort at last year's Patriot League Championships, where he placed ninth overall, and it ranks fifth in the conference this season. Still added a 10th place showing in the 3-meter at the 2020 conference meet.
Donato beat out seven other divers in the 1-meter on Saturday, finishing in first place with a total of 172.04 points. She added a second-place effort in the 3-meter, as her score of 176.62 was less than four points back of teammate
Jessica Stolfi for the top spot. The victory was Donato's first at Loyola; she posted a pair of runner-up showings in the 1-meter against American and Lafayette last season.
The Greyhounds are back at Mangione Pool on Saturday, hosting American in a dual at 1 p.m.
