Brown Earns Eighth Career Patriot League Golfer Of The Week Honor

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off helping the Loyola University Maryland golf team to a seven-stroke victory at the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic yesterday, senior Evan Brown was named the Patriot League Golfer of the Week for the eighth time in his career.

Evan Brown led the Greyhounds at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina, this week, tying for fourth overall at 3-under 216. He shot 3-under in the final round, rolling in four birdies, 13 pars and a bogey at the 6,723-yard, par-72 course.

With Loyola trailing by three strokes entering the final 18, Brown opened with a bogey-free front nine, posting a pair of birdies. He helped Loyola overtake second-round leader UNC Greensboro on the back nine, playing nearly flawless golf with seven more pars, a birdie and one bogey.

In the opening round of the tournament, Brown and the field battled tough conditions, but he was in the top-10 with a 3-over 75. He came back to shoot 1-under in the second round – an 18 that was split between Monday and Tuesday because of a frost delay before the opening round – and got into the top-five individually.

Overall, Brown had 14 birdies and 29 pars during the three-round tournament.

His eight career weekly honors are more than any player in Patriot League history.
