HAMILTON, N.Y. – Three Loyola University Maryland men's basketball players scored in double-figures Sunday, but Colgate University had five over the threshold and led wire-to-wire to claim an 85-72 victory in the Patriot League Championship Game at Cotterell Court.
Jaylin Andrews was two off his season-high with a game-best 20 points, making 9 of 12 shots from the field, to lead Loyola in scoring.
Santi Aldama added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds, and
Isaiah Hart added 11 for the Greyhounds.
Aldama and Andrews were both named to the All-Tournament Team after the Greyhounds' first -ever appearance in the Patriot League Championship game since joining the conference in 2013-14.
Colgate (14-1 overall) scored the first six points of the game on 3-pointers and never trailed in a close first half.
Jack Ferguson knocked down a Raiders' three with 12:03 on the first-half clock to make it an 18-10 Colgate lead, but five-straight points by Hart and an Andrews jumper got the deficit to a point before Ferguson responded with another three.
Golden Dike converted in the paint with 8:15 to go in the frame, to again make it a two-point game, but that was as close as the Greyhounds would draw the rest of the way.
Hart knocked down two free throws with two seconds left before halftime, and Aldama opened the second stanza by isolating and scoring, trimming the deficit to 38-35, but the Raiders reeled off eight of the next 10 and led by nine with 17:37 remaining.
Loyola had a 36-29 advantage in rebounding, but the Raiders outshot the Greyhounds, 52.5 percent to 46.6.
