BALTIMORE –
Loc San's first collegiate game was a memorable one, as he scored the game-winning goal 2:28 into double overtime to help Loyola University Maryland knock off defending Patriot League champions Lehigh by a 2-1 final at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Sam Brown and
Kelan Swales assisted on the winning strike for the Greyhounds (1-1 PL, 1-1 South), while
Justin Ingram opened the scoring on a direct corner kick for the home side in the first half.
The Mountain Hawks (1-2 PL, 1-2 South) took the lead 20:23 in, as Jonathan Blaine put home a rebound after Josh Luchini's initial header rattled off the crossbar.
Ingram's equalizer came less than two minutes later, as he curled his corner from the left side straight into the top right corner for his fourth goal at Loyola.
Shots were deadlocked at 5-5 heading into the intermission, but Loyola had a 12-6 edge over the remainder of the contest.
Chase Vosvick came up with a pair of big saves during the final 20 minutes of the second half to help send the game into extra time.
Neither team had a shot on goal in the first overtime session. Swales began the game-winning sequence for the Greyhounds in double OT, as he found Brown near the top of the box. Brown's shot was blocked by a Lehigh defender and went straight to San, whose initial attempt was stopped by goalie Blake Koski before he put home his own rebound.
This was the eighth meeting between the two sides, and seven have now been decided by one goal. Today's Loyola victory avenged a 1-0 defeat in Bethlehem during the 2019 regular season.
The Greyhounds hit the road for their next two contests, beginning with a 7 p.m. matchup at Navy next Wednesday.
