BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Jacob Denison became the men's soccer program's first three-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree, and Loyola University Maryland led the way with three selections overall to the 11-man team announced by the conference office on Friday afternoon.
Denison was joined by
Albert Kang and
Chase Vosvick on the Academic All-Patriot League team. To be considered for the award, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter and/or key reserve for their team. Freshmen are not eligible for this honor.
Denison started all six games this season, and he is the lone Greyhound to start all 25 contests over the past two campaigns. One of Loyola's primary center backs, he was previously honored as a third team All-Patriot League selection earlier this week. Off the field, Denison holds a 3.72 grade-point average while majoring in business administration, including a perfect 4.0 GPA this past fall semester.
Kang is also a business administration major, and he has a perfect 4.0 GPA through his first three semesters at Loyola. He started four games this spring, providing the game-winning goal in the Greyhounds' big 2-0 win at Navy last week which helped them clinch first place in the Patriot League South division standings. That was the first collegiate goal for Kang, who was the lone Loyola freshman to appear in all 19 games during the 2019 season.
Vosvick adds Academic All-Patriot League status to a long list of conference accolades received since joining the program in 2017. He was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year for a third time this spring after going 3-1-1 with 13 saves, a 0.92 GAA and a .722 save percentage. A MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List candidate, Vosvick is the third four-time All-Patriot League honoree in program history, and he is a seven-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week. In the classroom, Vosvick maintains a 3.49 GPA as a sociology major, including a 4.0 average last semester.
Bucknell's Matt Thorsheim repeated as the Patriot League's Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Loyola was the lone school with three representatives on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, while Bucknell, Lehigh and Navy each had a pair of honorees.
