Brown Named To Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Evan Brown added to his collection of awards this week, drawing Academic All-Patriot League honors for his work on the course and in the classroom.

The Loyola University Maryland men's golf senior who has finished in the top-five of five of six tournaments this season, entered his final semester of academics at the school with a 3.486 grade-point average as a finance major.

Brown finished second at the Patriot League Championship earlier this month, helping lead the Greyhounds to their fourth conference title in the last seven years and an appearance in next week's NCAA Regionals.

The Greyhounds will compete at the Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs, Tennessee, as the No. 11 seed, the highest draw Loyola has posted in its 10 regional appearances.

Brown is ranked 91st individually by Golfstat with a head-to-head record of 409-26-3 this season for a .937 winning percentage against other golfers.

He opened the spring with a tie for fourth at the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic in North Carolina, helping the Greyhounds win the team event for their first victory of two this year. Brown then took second at the East Carolina Intercollegiate.

His only non-top-five finish came at North Carolina's Tar Heel Intercollegiate where he finished tied for 20th, but he came back to finish tied for third at West Virginia's Mountaineer Invitational.

Brown won Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate with a tournament-record score of 11-under, and he then took second at the Patriot League Championships.

This season, Brown has an average score of 71.11 with a top-par average of 0.39-under. He is poised to post the second-best scoring average in school history, both as an aggregate and to-par, behind only his totals of 70.95 and 0.47-under in the shortened 2019-2020 season.

Brown and the Greyhounds will kick off the NCAA Regionals on Monday, May 17, playing one round each day of the three-day tournament.
