WASHINGTON, D.C. – Abby Hamilton hit .632 and put away 14 kills, registering her 1,000^th career kill in the process on Friday afternoon as Loyola University Maryland swept the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 25-16, 25-14, 25-14, in the first match of Dig The District.
 
The Greyhounds (5-3 overall) did not trail at any point in the match and hit a season-high .453 in the match, its best since swinging at a .456 clip on September 5, 2018, during a match against Coppin State University.
 
Loyola had just four errors in the match Friday against UMES.
 
Cecylia Guye put away eight kills on just 10 errorless swings, hitting .800, while Megan Bukala hit .333 with seven kills.
 
Kacy Sekunda directed the offense with 34 assists and four kills of her own, and Katie Forsythe added 14 digs. Guye also had a team-high three blocks.
 
Hamilton, who did not have an error in 19 attempts, hit the 1,000-kill mark with her eighth kill of the contest that came early in the second set to give the Greyhounds an 8-3 advantage in the frame.
 
She is the 11^th player in Loyola history to reach 1,000 kills in her career and the first since her former teammate Ann Ernst did so in October 2018. Hamilton's 1,000 came in the 75^th match of her career. Through 295 career sets, she has averaged 3.40 kills per for a total of 1,004.
 
The Greyhounds will be back in action Friday evening at 7 o'clock against host George Washington University.
