TOWSON, Md. – Towson University rallied to win the last two sets, taking the deciding fifth frame after Loyola University Maryland led 12-10, for a 25-16, 20-25, 18-25, 25-19, 16-14 victory at the Towson Invitational.
The Greyhounds took a two-point lead late in the fifth, but the Tigers came back to score the last three points, tying the set at 14-14 and then gaining the match-clinching points.
Abby Hamilton led all players with 17 kills and five service aces, while
Cat Vaccaro had a season-high 12.
Kacy Sekunda was two kills short of a triple-double, posting eight kills, 19 digs and 27 assists for the Greyhounds (3-2 overall).
Megan Bukala finished with nine kills and three blocks.
Maya Dudockin finished with nine total blocks, the most by a Loyola player since
Mackenzie Fedota had 10 in an October 6, 2018, match against College of the Holy Cross.
Katie Forsythe moved into fourth place all-time in the Patriot League in digs, raising her career total to 1,732 with 15 against the Tigers.
The Greyhounds will be back on the court in SECU Arena to finish the tournament with a pair of matches on Saturday; the face Stony Brook University at 1:30 p.m. and Morgan State University at 6:30 p.m.
