Vosvick Announced as Candidate for 2021 Men’s Soccer Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Loyola University Maryland graduate student Chase Vosvick was one of 30 Division I men's soccer student-athletes across the country revealed on Thursday as a candidate for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate-student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Vosvick has been a leader for the Greyhounds throughout his five years with the program. One of three team captains this season, he is a three-time United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region performer (2017-19) and a three-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year (2017, 2018, Spring 2021). He was also named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List prior to the Spring 2021 campaign, and he is a 12-time Patriot League weekly award winner.

Vosvick has started all 61 games he has appeared in for Loyola, contributing to a program which has topped the Patriot League regular season standings in three of his first four collegiate seasons. He is 35-19-6 with a 0.97 GAA, a .737 save percentage and 22 career shutouts.

Off the field, Vosvick graduated from Loyola last spring with a 3.551 GPA while majoring in sociology, posting perfect 4.0 averages in each of his final three semesters. He is now working towards a master's in school counseling with the ultimate goal of becoming a Licensed Social Worker, helping those with addictions and assisting youth in underserved communities.

Vosvick has also worked as a group and personal trainer for other goalkeepers, and he has also volunteered his time at youth soccer camps both in Maryland and during his high school years at Montverde Academy in Florida.

The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character, and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2021 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships in December. Vosvick is one of four Patriot League student-athletes included on the initial candidate list. He is joined by Stevo Bednarsky (Lehigh), Max Krause (Holy Cross) and Matt Nocita (Navy).
