TOWSON, Md. – Three Loyola University Maryland volleyball players –
Lauren Link (14),
Abby Hamilton (13) and
Cat Vaccaro (10) – had double-digit kill performances on Saturday evening as the Greyhounds closed the Towson Invitational with a 25-13, 25-18, 25-19 sweep of Morgan State.
Kacy Sekunda directed a Loyola offense that hit a season-best .292, passing out a career-high 41 assists. Fellow freshman
Maya Dudockin hit .429 and had a team-high five service aces.
An 8-0 run gave the Greyhounds (4-3 overall) an 11-4 lead after a Link kill early in the first set and the Greyhounds cruised to the set win while hitting .400 in the frame.
Loyola's hitting improved from there, posting a .417 mark in the second set with 21 kills as it turned an 8-5 deficit into a 17-10 lead. During the 12-2 run, Dudockin served three of her aces, and Vaccaro posted three kills.
Hamilton and
Katie Forsythe both had more double-digit digs in the match, tallying 12 each.
Loyola heads into its final tournament of the early season next weekend when it heads to Washington, D.C., for Dig The District.
