EASTON, Pa. –
Albert Kang collected a rebounded shot by
Johan Granados at the top of the 18 and drilled a shoulder-high shot into the left side of the net Saturday to give the Loyola University Maryland men's soccer team a 1-1 draw at Lafayette College.
The goal in the 85
th minute drew Loyola level and helped the Greyhounds (4-5-6 overall, 2-2-3 Patriot League) earn a point in the Patriot League standings.
Lafayette (8-4-3, 2-2-3) took a 1-0 lead in the 11
th minute when Hale Lombard connected for a goal off a Marcos Kitromilides assist.
The score remained 1-0 in the Leopards' favor until the play the setup Kang's equalizer.
Kelan Swales took the ball to the end line on the right side of the goal and crossed a pass toward the six. It was deflected out where
Richie Nichols had a shot from the top right side.
That attempt was deflected, and it settled to Granados who struck a shot from 16 yards out only to have it deflected. The ball stayed in Loyola's possession, however, and it bounced to Kang at the top of the 18. He took a hard strike that cleared the right shoulder of a Leopards defender and went into the left side of the net.
Loyola will be back in action in a week when it heads to Annapolis, Maryland, for a Saturday, October 29, contest at the U.S. Naval Academy slated to start at 12 noon.
