Pirates Rally To Hand Men's Basketball Road Loss

HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University closed Wednesday's game on a 10-2 run to take a 66-61 decision against visiting Loyola University Maryland.

A Jaylin Adrews three, after a Kenneth Jones layup and block on the defensive end, gave Loyola a 59-55 lead at the final media timeout, but Hampton rallied.

Trailing by one, the Greyhounds went to a zone defense and forced a bad shot by Hampton, but a moving screen was whistled against Loyola on the offensive end, giving the ball back to the Pirates.

Hampton led by one, but Russell Dean pulled up from 18-plus feet to hit a jumper and give Hampton a three-point advantage. The Pirates made a defensive stop, and Amir Nesbitt hit two free throws to seal the game.

Jones and Andrews tied for team-high honors with 15 points each, and Chris Kuzemka added 14.

Loyola returns to action on Saturday, December 10, when it plays at Mount St. Mary's in a 7 p.m. game.
