Olivia Tracey,
Abby Decker and
Sandra Aguirre all won super-tiebreaker third sets on Sunday evening to help the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team score a 5-2 win over host Monmouth University.
The Greyhounds took an early 1-0 lead in the match by winning the doubles point.
Lauren Manwiller and
Jessica Bodewes beat Zoe Klapman and Jordyn Pax, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles, and Decker and
Genevieve Wurtz used the same score to top Ann Spurka and Madison Mills at No. 3.
Wurtz then came back to win her No. 6 singles match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, the only Loyola singles win in two.
Tracey won the first set, 7-6 (1) over Monmouth's Nicole Gasser before falling, 3-6, in the second. She then rallied to win the super-tiebreaker, 10-8, to take the point at No. 1 singles.
Monmouth won a pair of matches at two and three as Klapman beat Manwiller, 5-7, 6-4, (10-5), and Spurka topped Bodewes, 6-1, 6-3.
Decker rallied from a first set defeat, 5-7, to Mills to capture the last two sets, 6-4 and 11-9, at No. 4 singles. Aguirre also came back after losing the first set, 3-6, to beat Lenien Jamir, 7-6 (3) in the second and 10-8 in the super-tiebreaker.
