GOODYEAR, Ariz. –
Brandon Berry fired his seventh sub-70 round of the season on Tuesday, leading the Loyola University Maryland golf team as the Greyhounds wrapped up three days in Arizona at the Loyola Intercollegiate.
His score was matched by teammate
Mike Crowley, who was playing as an individual at the event, as the Greyhounds' best score of the three rounds.
Berry scattered seven birdies on his card Tuesday to shoot 4-under 68 at Palm Valley Golf Club and finish tied for 24
th overall at 1-under for 54 holes.
As a team, the Greyhounds finished 14
th out of 18 teams at 16-over par.
Berry immediately got into red numbers Tuesday, birding his second and third holes before a bogey on his fourth (the 16
th on the course). He then rebounded with a birdie two holes later before also birding the course's second, third and seventh holes.
He was one of two Loyola players to shoot 68 on Tuesday as Crowley matched him with a score of 4-under while playing as an individual. Crowley had six birdies to shoot a collegiate-best round on the par-72 course. He finished tied for 70
th at 7-over.
Brett Inserra carded a 2-over 74 Tuesday and tied for 47
th overall, while
Nick Mejia was 1-over 73 and tied for 58
th at 5-over for the tournament.
Carlo Pizzano finished at 3-over in the final round and was 83
rd overall at 10-over, while
Jackson Roman tied for 93
rd at 14-over with a final-round 2-over 74.
Matt Malits shot 6-over 78 as an individual on Tuesday and tied for 98
th overall at 16-over.
The Greyhounds will take a week off before heading to the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic, an event Loyola won last year, at Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
