Therien Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Week For Sixth Time

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lex Therien was named the Patriot League Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday, her sixth honor of the season over the course of 16 weeks.

Therien received the award more than all but six players in Patriot League history, and her six Rookie of the Week honors are the most since Bucknell's Claire DeBoer earned the recognition eight times during the 2013-14 season.

Last week, Therien continued to average a double-double as the Greyhounds beat Navy and then had a one-point loss to American.

She posted eight points and tied her career-high with 17 rebounds Wednesday night as the Greyhounds downed the Midshipmen. Therien then made 7 of 8 shots from the field and scored 14 points while grabbing 14 rebounds Saturday afternoon versus the Eagles.

This season, she leads the Patriot League in rebounds per game (11.1) while leading the Greyhounds in scoring with 12.6 point per contest. She is 18th in NCAA Division I in rebounds per game and 16th with 300 total boards. Her 14 double-doubles rank 19th in the country.

Her 300 rebounds rank second in Loyola single-season history behind only the 317 pulled down by Stephanie Karcz during the 2017-18 season.

Therien and the Greyhounds play their last regular-season game on Wednesday, March 2, in a 6 p.m. start at Army West Point. They will then play at Lafayette in the Patriot League Championships First Round on Saturday, March 5.
