LAKE WORTH, Fla. –
Jackson Roman shot 71-74 on Monday to lead the Loyola University Maryland golf team after two rounds at the Southern Invitational at The Falls Club.
Roman began the tournament with a birdie on his first hole but then carded bogeys on three of his first five hole. He righted himself quickly with birdies on the sixth and seventh holes and played a bogey-free round the rest of the way.
He added a birdie on the 15
th hole to finish with his second-straight sub-par round. Roman then had three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine of his second round, but he posted nine-straight pars to close at 2-over 74 in the second.
Roman finished the day tied for 19
th after 36 holes with the team seventh.
Carlo Pizzano and
Mike Crowley both tied for 25
th after two rounds with overall scores of 3-over through 36.
Pizzano shot 3-over 75 in the morning, and he was at 3-over through 16 holes in the second round before finishing eagle-birdie to get to even for the round.
Crowley had scores of 74 and 73 on Monday.
Brandon Berry is tied for 47
th after rounds of 76 and 78, and
Brett Inserra is two shots back and tied for 51
st after rounds at 75 and 81.
The Greyhounds start the final round on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
